If you read my essay you know this is very personal for me. 49 million of us, in the United States, adults and children, are food insecure—that is not knowing where the next meal will come from, or if there will be a meal at all. It’s a punch in the gut. I feel ashamed when I hear people choke back tears—and pride—who say they didn’t want a handout, but they had to go to the food pantry for the first time so their family would not go hungry. It makes me feel hopeless and angry. But there is something we can do. If you feel like me, please follow the link on the poster (designed by Shepard Fairey) and find out how you can help. Please do this.
